Janna Dutton

Today we’d like to introduce you to homegrown entrepreneur and philanthropist Janna Dutton.

Not only does Janna own multiple Tim Hortons locations, but she is currently working with a local hospital on a campaign to raise 20 million dollars and is writing two books; one for children about setting and achieving goals, and a book about giving – inspiring all to share their unique gifts with the world.

When we first met Janna, we were struck by her curiosity and genuine interest in those around her. She truly believes that it is the desire to make a positive change in the world (not money) that defines each of us as philanthropists. Janna encompasses this believe by leading from a place of humility and service with her personal mantra “a giving heart grows”.

As former high school teachers, we love lifelong learners. Janna’s studies include Tony Robbins Leadership Mastery/Business Mastery, Napoleon Hill foundation certification and she is also a consultant with Bob Proctor at the Proctor Gallagher Institute.

“Your work will only reflect your true self if you bring your true self to work.” -Janna Dutton

Here’s a little bit of Janna’s story in her own words:

Growing up, I used to always tell my mom I wanted to own a restaurant on the highway.

On style: Currently, I have a really difficult time getting dressed in the morning. My day morphs between mom, franchisee, volunteer, and executive. 🤯. My favourite outfit when I can get away with it would be black jeans with a cute shirt, blazer and heels. I love clothes that can be washed and dried.

On work: The biggest challenge I find is keeping my talent engaged. I have some really phenomenal people in my organization and I try to offer them some development and social reasons to remain with me over moving to the next company.

I tell my kids and others that ask for advice to release the fear of criticism. Don’t worry what people will think about you – just do what you feel is right. There is always going to be someone who thinks you can’t or shouldn’t do something.

Giving hearts grow. Don’t keep the money locked up in a miser’s safe. Contribute to the community, invest in yourself and your team, take the risk!!!

We absolutely love this advice and this incredible local world changer. Learn more about Janna on her Leadership and Philanthropy Page here.
